Entrepreneur 2.0 How To Get The Latest Version

Business Resources, Entrepreneurs, Highlights | January 18th, 2010 | Comments (5)

Welcome back to the second post in the`Sassy Sunday’ series (on a Monday) where I’ll focus on why you need to be an Evolutionary Entrepreneur and how you’re going to change the world.

In the last week I’ve updated almost every piece of my daily technology. There’s nothing like wiping your systems clean (literally) and starting with a clean slate. My week looked something like this:

1. Blackberry died, went out and bought myself a brand new sexy iPhone.
I think it’s revolutionized my life. The number of useful apps for an entrepreneur on the go are incredibly useful and time-saving (once I get back to my lightening speed typing). Such as WordPress so I can blog on the fly, Hootsuite for my Twitter accounts, Seth Godin’s app so I can read his blog easily and look at his head, Facebook, LinkedIn, plus the ability to read all my RSS feeds in a beautifully visual way. I’m in love.

    2. Goodbye Vista and Hello Windows 7.
Yes I use a PC and if you’ve endured the nightmare that is Vista, the constant crashing of apps and the huge memory requirements it places on your system then get rid of it now. You’ll love the new powerful and minimalist look and feel of Windows 7 without the chunky backend. Needless to say wiping your computer means you get to start afresh and only add back in programs and apps that are especially useful such as GChat, iTunes and Skype.

    3. To Firefox or to Google Chrome? That is the question.
I’m a big Firefox fan but whether it was due to Vista or the way I had multiple tabs running at a time, I got a little sick of it crashing. So I’m trying out Google Chrome and do love the simplicity of it so far. Not sure I’m a convert yet but am just discovering all the features. Any tips appreciated!

I realised that, even though it took a good few days to completely change out all my old systems, it was very empowering. I decluttered my tech life and feel more in control now, more streamlined and excited to discover more about my new tools.

Why can’t we upgrade ourselves and install the latest version?

It struck me that we talk about upgrading to the latest systems all the time with products and services. So why can’t we do the same with ourself? I mean it’s a new year, so what old systems are you going to toss out and how are you going to streamline yourself so you’re most effective at what you’re doing in your daily life and in with your business?

Here’s TWO things to get you started on doing just that this week:

1. Attend the Women Work Wonders Webinar today and get reenergized:

  • Remember how powerful and needed we are, especially right now
  • Remember how very much needed our qualities are, especially right now
  • Look at ourselves in the mirror and smile at what we see
  • Recognize ourselves as mentors and role models for future generations

2. Blog Talk Radio Show: The Power of Entrepreneur Women

Come and Join A. Michelle Blakely on her new show Simple Truths: Intelligent. Insightful. Informed. Six industry experts and professionals bring their own unique experience and knowledgebase to the Simple Truths roundtable. The panel will discuss “The Power of Entrepreneur Women.” A study by the Center for Women’s Business Research shows that women now own 40 percent of private firms. That’s 10 times more businesses than women owned 30 years ago. Have women entrepreneurs finally arrived or were we always here?

That’s awesome! Good for you! I wish I could go from my blackberry to an ipone! But, I’m with verzon.. :(

I’m with you with the whole thing about firefox and chrome… I love firefox and all it’s plugins… tons of great stuff for web and SEO guys and girls, but I am really tired of the “not responding” issues. I just hope Chrome comes out with a lot of the same plugins that Firefox offers.

    Enjoy your fresh start! :)

  3. mmmmm Apple iPhone Must go down the mall now…

I was talking to a woman yesterday here in London whose company is working with retailers to sell apps so you can pick one up at the supermarket. I kid you not!

  4. Natalie says:

Thanks Paul, and thanks for visiting.

This morning I’ve had the fantastic experience of both Chrome and Firefox crashing and I think it’s all because of a Flash Plugin. Now wanting to listen to a live webinar with #MillionaireAffair and they’re having all sorts of audio and video problems. The point is the tech world whilst brilliant and innovative can sometimes be a big time waster! That’s why experimenting with new tools and being cutting edge is exciting to say the least. Even my new site launch over the weekend is still having a few bugs, luckily your true friends and fans will support you through thick and thing when you’re trying to create bigger and better things for everyone to enjoy.

I hear a new iPhone is coming out soon so perhaps you’ll get your chance if the sign a deal with Verizon…

  5. Natalie says:

    Hi Yvonne

That will bring a whole new meaning to supermarket checkout: I’ll grab some bananas, veggies, fruit, chewing gum and oh yes the latest iPhone app thanks’.
The real winner will be when payments come to mobiles so you can buy anything anywhere instantly, and so can all the people who are not on the internet but have mobiles – a far greater percentage of the world’s population have mobiles.

So have you got your iPhone yet? You won’t regret it!

    Natalie
