Coaches Corner: Why We Walk Away from our Ambitions

By Felicia Lee, Ghost CEO Advisor It's been such a joy to watch and participate in some of the 2010 Winter Olympic activities.  I'm quite inspired by the Olympic athletes, especially in their stories and journey. So many have always known that they've wanted to become an Olympian ever since they were little kids.  Some have been called "too ambitious", but have not allowed naysayers to come between them and their ambition.  Today I want to take a quick look into this thing we called "Ambition". Are you ambitious?  What does the word "ambition" mean to you?  Do you feel uncomfortable talking about your ambition? Does... [read more] Related posts:

Coaches Corner: When To Walk Away From Your Customer

As women, we are sometimes programmed to help others. We see problems, we know exactly what needs to be done to solve them, we run in to fix them, and all is good. And this is a good thing most of the times. In corporations large or small, women are often the ones who notice what needs to be done, get the work done, and are the glue that hold everything together. If you are a mother, you know that you are often the first one to notice that your child is upset, is uncomfortable, needs to be fed, etc. However, we may run into roadblocks when we transfer this desire and this know-how to working with potential customers. Have you... [read more] Related posts:

Looking For Funding? Here’s The Perfect SpringBoard For Women

Part Five of the Sassy Sunday Series: Where I aim to inspire you to be an Evolutionary Entrepreneur. It’s a fantastic day when you happen across a resource that is solely focused on helping female entrepreneurs get access to money. Springboard 2000 Enterprises does exactly that. What’s more it’s run by a bunch of impressive female co-founders who clearly figured that women-led businesses should be receiving more than just a measly 1.7% of the billions in venture capital being invested back in 1997. Especially given that in 1997 women ran 9 million businesses with revenues of $3 trillion and a work force of 27 million. Why... [read more] Related posts:

Coaches Corner: Making Your Dreams Come True

Are you an innovative or creative entrepreneur?  Do you often have new ideas, and if you do, do your ideas usually come to fruition?  Or are you more the type that has loads of reasons on why your ideas won't work? I recently discovered something called the Disney Creative Strategy, which is apparently how Disney is able to continually innovate new ideas and bring them to the market.  It goes something like this: There are 3 departments in Disney: The Dreamers The Realists The Critics The Dreamers' jobs are, well, to dream.  Flying elephants - great idea!  Monsters that generate their city's power by scaring kids -... Entrepreneur 2.0 How To Get The Latest Version

Welcome back to the second post in the`Sassy Sunday’ series (on a Monday) where I’ll focus on why you need to be an Evolutionary Entrepreneur and how you’re going to change the world. In the last week I've updated almost every piece of my daily technology. There's nothing like wiping your systems clean (literally) and starting with a clean slate. My week looked something like this: 1. Blackberry died, went out and bought myself a brand new sexy iPhone. I think it's revolutionized my life. The number of useful apps for an entrepreneur on the go are incredibly useful and time-saving (once I get back to my lightening speed... [read more] No related posts. If Women Now Drive the World Economy Then Who Is Steering?

"As a market, women represent a bigger opportunity than China and India combined. So why are companies doing such a poor job of serving them?  Women now drive the world economy." - Harvard Business Review After reading some key facts about women and money the other day on the Womens Enterprise website I just had to swipe them and rewrite in into this post. Every self respecting woman needs to know this situation has just got to change. Did you know Globally, women control about $20 trillion in annual consumer spending, and that figure could climb as high as $28 trillion in the next five years. Their $13 trillion in total... Winning in a Man’s World, Advice for Women Who Want to Succeed

Men and women do not think alike. It’s genetic, it’s environmental, it’s inevitable. These differences can present tough, frustrating situations for women working in a male-dominated environment, but it is also what makes companies more successful and life more interesting. In her newest book, Winning in a Man’s World, Advice for Women Who Want to Succeed and the Men Who Work with Them, Renee Weisman demonstrates how to make gender differences an opportunity rather than a problem. As one of the first woman engineers, managers, executives, and working mothers in the male-dominated semiconductor industry, Renee knows her... [read more] Related posts:

Forum For Women Entrepreneurs is on a Mission

As Executive Director of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FWE), Jill Earthy is responsible for overseeing the strategic growth of the organization. From what I’ve experienced in the last few weeks of joining, I’d say she, and her small team are doing a stellar job. Formed in 2002, this non-profit organization is aimed at women building and leading high-growth companies. Through entrepreneurial expertise and collaboration, it’s their mission to mentor and educate women entrepreneurs and help them achieve greater success. A successful entrepreneur herself, Jill created a national event staffing agency in 2001 while based in... [read more] Related posts:
